Effective technical support is vital in ensuring that school's ICT systems function effectively and in ensuring that teachers and learners get the most benefit from ICT. This applies both to teaching staff and to school administration.
The DfES has worked with Becta to develop a range of guidance materials for schools. This includes the Framework for ICT Support (FITS), example job descriptions, and competences at four levels. This advice is available from the Becta website through the link below.
This flyer gives advice on the types of technical support available, who provides it and funding which schools can access to recruit and train ICT technicians. Technical support can be delivered in a variety of different ways, as each school's circumstances are different - the leaflet gives suggestions on how to access the appropriate support.
